Aggregates vs. inspectable transactions

Credit first: PokiFrame's pricing foundations are sales-based. TCGplayer Market Price is computed from completed sales, and PokiFrame's card pages surface eBay sold-price statistics — including counts and graded averages for PSA, CGC, and BGS — alongside CardMarket data. That's a legitimate stack, and better than the asking-price aggregators in this category.

The difference is resolution. An average tells you the neighborhood; it can't tell you whether the last sale was this week or in June, whether it was your card's condition, or whether one outlier auction is skewing the figure. Double Holo shows the individual transactions — each eBay sold sale with its date, next to live listings and TCGplayer sales — so those questions are answerable before money moves. For a $5 binder card, the average is plenty. For a slab changing hands at a show, the transactions are the negotiation. (More on this distinction in our guide to checking card prices.)

The source-description inconsistency

One observation a pricing product should want to fix: PokiFrame describes its own sources differently in different places. Its homepage FAQ and footer name TCGplayer and CardMarket; a homepage stat block advertises three sources including eBay; and its live card pages display eBay sold prices with graded averages. The card pages appear to carry the fullest version — but a product whose homepage understates its own pricing stack leaves the reader to do the reconciliation. Scanner claims: both vendor-reported

PokiFrame describes its app identifying cards in about a second; Double Holo reports 0.44 seconds, including through sleeves and scratched cases at a distance. Both numbers come from the vendors — neither has been independently benchmarked, and we won't pretend otherwise. Where each one wins

PokiFrame's genuine strengths: its multilingual web card pages are unusual and useful — separate English and Japanese sections plus eight more languages, indexed and shareable, with a trade calculator for sanity-checking swaps. If your need is researching card prices in a browser, in your language, without installing anything, PokiFrame's site does that well.

Double Holo's gaps, honestly: there is no web-based checker — pricing a card means installing the app — and no multilingual web browsing to match PokiFrame's ten languages. Its strengths are all in-app: transaction-level comps, the vendor case workflow, and selling what you scan in the built-in marketplace without switching platforms.
